Motion X Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in Northern Virginia. Founded in 2013 by Stephanie Dorrycott, the company fosters individuality and artistic growth while creating relatable dance works that reflect the human experience. Motion X shares innovative, thought-provoking pieces with diverse audiences, featuring choreographers who value collaboration and support safe creative spaces. The company thrives on multidisciplinary partnerships and has found success in multimedia works such as Altered Archives (2015), The Fate of Choice (2020), and Polyscope (2025).

Motion X has performed at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Grace Street Theater, Charlotte Ballet Theater, and at the University of Maryland’s Choreographer’s Showcase. Now entering its 11th season, Motion X continues to inspire with compelling work that sparks dialogue around the human experience and remains committed to cultivating future artists through affordable, high-quality training offered in open classes and its annual Summer Workshop.
