Notes of Honor: NSO Salutes the Military
Expressing our gratitude to veterans and active duty military and their families.
The NSO’s Notes of Honor initiative aims to recognize and express our gratitude to active duty and prior service members, veterans, and retired service members through free programming at the Kennedy Center.

U.S. Capitol Concerts
The NSO is part of two annual traditions – the National Memorial Day Concert and A Capitol Fourth – the premier celebrations of America’s most important holidays broadcast annually from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
The National Memorial Day Concert has become an American tradition, honoring the military service and sacrifice of all of our men and women in uniform, their families at home, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
On July 4th, America’s national Independence Day celebration honors our country’s birthday with an all-star salute.
Both concerts are broadcast live on PBS as well as to our troops serving around the world on the Armed Forces Network. A Capitol Fourth can also be heard live on NPR member stations nationwide.
