Sound Health is the National Symphony Orchestra’s year-round initiative that focuses on the intersection of music and wellness.
In Partnership with the National Institutes of Health
The NSO presents an annual full orchestra concert at the NIH each September. In addition, the NSO arranges for musicians to perform in small groups at the NIH.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation's medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.

The concert really brings a lot of joy to often a monotonous routine of being in the hospital (even the librarians working in the Patient Library on the 7th floor were able to hear the beautiful music).
