A Kennedy Center Tribute to Robert Redford (1936-2025)

Share

In this heartfelt tribute, we celebrate the incredible legacy of Robert Redford, who received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2005 for his extraordinary contributions to American cinema and independent filmmaking.

Redford was recognized alongside fellow honorees Tina Turner, Tony Bennett, Julie Harris, and Suzanne Farrell in our 28th annual celebration of lifetime achievement in the arts. During the gala tribute, Hollywood legends gathered on our Opera House stage to honor the man who revolutionized cinema, with performances and tributes celebrating his remarkable career and cultural impact. From his breakthrough performances in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "All the President's Men" to his Academy Award-winning directorial debut "Ordinary People," the evening celebrated a true cinema visionary whose founding of the Sundance Institute forever changed the landscape of independent filmmaking and championed emerging artists whose voices define American storytelling.
