In the 2023–2024 season, he made debuts with Staatsoper Hamburg (Die Fledermaus), Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, and Residentie Orkest in collaboration with the Dutch National Opera Academy (Il ritorno d’Ulisse). Other recent performances include Rossini’s La scala di seta at the Bredeweg Festival in Amsterdam; a collaboration with Jennifer Koh and students from the Juilliard School at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.; and Pierrot Lunaire at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York City. Scolnik-Brower has also served as the cover conductor for the New York Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Scolnik-Brower is a graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with David Robertson, and of the Dutch National Masters of Orchestral Conducting where he worked with Jac van Steen, Ed Spanjaard, Kenneth Montgomery, and Antony Hermus. He was a conducting fellow at the Aspen Music Festival for two years for which he was awarded the Robert Spano Conducting Prize. Scolnik-Brower previously studied English and music at Harvard University.

This season, Lin returns to the podium with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in a pair of world premieres with the virtuosic cellist-vocalist-composer Abel Selaocoe. Also returning to conduct the Minnesota Orchestra in concert with Tony DeSare and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Lin debuts with Charlotte Symphony and Cirque de la Symphonie, and with Portland Symphony in Star Wars: A New Hope. As guest conductor, Lin has also directed the Saint Louis Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Williamsburg Symphony, Richmond Ballet, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and Taipei Philharmonic Chorus. Her work as cover conductor spans renowned ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic, National Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and Opéra de Rouen Normandie, covering esteemed conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Marin Alsop, Stéphane Denève, Sir Mark Elder, Jahja Ling, Yu Long, Nicholas McGegan, Valentina Peleggi, Thomas Søndergård, John Storgårds, Juraj Valčuha, Osmo Vänskä, and many more.

The Chautauquan Daily praised Lin for her 2024 direction of Dvořák Symphony No. 8, “The entire CSO profited from Lin’s direction, from the violins’ beguiling rendition of the third movement’s lilting theme to the brass punches and horn whoops.”

Lin received accolades in 2019 as a last-minute replacement in Williamsburg Symphony’s performance of Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6. Assuming the podium the day of the concert, the Virginia Gazette reported Lin as “leading them through a thoroughly top-drawer performance” in “an exceptionally absorbing interpretation and rendering.”

An advocate for the next generation of musical talent, Lin has collaborated with award-winning artists Paul Huang, Sterling Elliot, Amaryn Olmeda, Kevin Zhu, Inna Faliks, and Eduardo Rojas. She previously served as music director of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra and University of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and assistant conductor of Opera at the CCM Spoleto Music Festival in Italy. As interim music director of the Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland, she led unique projects in collaboration with Chris Thile and Michael Stanley. Her list of premieres continues to grow, showcasing music that often transcends traditional classical boundaries, with new works by Texu Kim, Stephen Prutsman, Zachary Wadsworth, PaviElle French, Laura Schwendinger, Steve Heitzeg, and Jennifer Jolley. 

Lin, a native of Taiwan, pursued conducting with Apo Hsu and Mark Gibson, and she received her Doctorate of Orchestral Conducting at Northwestern University in Chicago with Victor Yampolsky. She is married to horn player James Ferree and lives in Baltimore.

Ritenauer is on the conducting faculty at the Manhattan School of Music and serves as associate conductor of the Pierre Monteux School. Additionally, he regularly covers for the New York Philharmonic and National Symphony Orchestra.

The 2024–2025 season includes performances with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and the Juilliard Ballet at Lincoln Center. As principal conductor of the Cali Opera Program, Ritenauer will lead Francesco Cavalli’s La Calisto at Montclair State University. He will also conduct major works with the Cali Orchestra, including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony. In addition, he will perform several concerts at the Manhattan School of Music and other prestigious venues across New York City.

Ritenauer has led opera productions such as Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and Michael Ching’s Buoso’s Ghost. He has worked as associate conductor with Orchestre Métropolitain and Opera de Montréal, as well as the Des Moines Metro Opera. His guest conducting engagements include the Elgin Symphony, Norwalk Symphony, and Symphony New Hampshire, as well as cover roles with the St. Louis Symphony, Utah Symphony, and Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

A graduate of The Juilliard School, Ritenauer studied under David Robertson and received the Charles Schiff Conducting Prize for outstanding achievement.

Born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Gray’s early professional life took him on a diverse path ranging from orchestral violinist to beekeeper, before turning his full-time attention to conducting. Since the end of 2023, he serves as associate artist of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra: a newly created role that sees him conduct, curate, and present programmes right across the RSNO’s series offerings. Gray is also conductor and artistic director of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra (Indiana, USA), beginning 2024–2025 season.
Gray credits the many folk music styles of the Southeastern United States as his earliest and most impactful musical influences, and his repertoire interests to date have been fueled by the engaged pursuit of that same spirit of cultural authenticity. This has led to a particular mastery not only of works that incorporate American folk idioms, but also in-depth explorations of heavily folk-inspired European composers such as Béla Bartók, Manuel de Falla, and Ralph Vaughan Williams, amongst others.

A passionate champion for African-diasporic composers, Gray was the founder and curator of Charleston Symphony’s Project Aurora: a programming and performance initiative aiming to illustrate the importance of African American arts and culture as equally valuable to its European equivalent. Additionally, he serves as assistant editor and conductor liaison for the African Diaspora Music Project, after extensive research at the Center for Black Music Research (CBMR) at Columbia College Chicago.

Gray’s discography to date comprises two celebrated releases—African American Voices and African American Voices II, made with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra—showcasing music by Margaret Bonds, William Dawson, William Grant Still, Coleridge Taylor Perkinson, Florence Price, and George Walker. Both records have met with the highest critical acclaim, including receiving an elusive five star review from the prestigious Diapason Magazine.

Gray’s appointment as associate artist of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra—the first position of its kind for the orchestra—marks an unprecedented but organic development following his highly successful tenure as the orchestra’s assistant conductor (2021–2023). Previous positions in Gray’s formative years as a conductor included successful tenures with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (associate conductor, 2018–2023), Chicago Sinfonietta (conducting fellow and assistant conductor, 2016–2018), and Valdosta Symphony Orchestra (assistant conductor, 2014–2016).

Recent and forthcoming guest conducting highlights include engagements with such orchestras as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, Houston Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (Washington), Philharmonia Orchestra (London), Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Seattle Opera, amongst others.
Outside of his busy transatlantic performance schedule, Kellen Gray is based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Since launching its eponymous recording label in 2020, the NSO has embarked on ambitious recording projects including the Orchestra’s first complete Beethoven Symphony cycle and the release of the first-ever cycle of George Walker’s Sinfonias, both led by Noseda. Recent projects include a new series of Four Symphonic Works by Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Carlos Simon conducted by Noseda, and William Shatner’s So Fragile, So Blue, recorded live with the NSO in the Concert Hall.

The NSO’s community engagement and education projects are nationally recognized, including NSO In Your Neighborhood; Notes of Honor; and Sound Health. Career development opportunities for young musicians include the NSO Youth Fellowship Program and its acclaimed, tuition-free Summer Music Institute.
