Mr. Covington is a world-renown organist and pianist who has performed with major artists such as George Benson, Sammy Davis, Abbey Lincoln, Aretha Franklin, and many more. He demonstrates various jazz styles (contemporary, popular, and standards) and captivates his audiences wherever he performs... from the White House to the Governor’s Mansion.

Charles Covington’s mastery of the keyboard is astonishing. He has performed internationally in Europe and China and has made numerous TV and radio appearances. He was the featured performer for President Carter at the White House and with George Benson on The Tonight Show. Covington’s impressive career includes celebrity performances with Sammy Davis, Jr., Eartha Kitt, Larry King, Henry Kissinger, Redd Foxx, and Flip Wilson. He has also been in concert with Sonny Stitt, Gene Ammons, Clark Terry, Milt Jackson, Eddie Harris, Zoot Simms, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, David “Fathead” Newman, J.J. Johnson, Kai Winding, Herbie Hancock, Hank Jones, Dorothy Donnegan, Shirley Horn, B.B. King, and Chuck Berry.
Mr. Covington has served on the faculty at Baltimore’s Peabody Conservatory of Music from 1979 through 1999 and served recently as a full-time professor of music at Howard University in Washington, D.C. His biography was published in the sixth edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2000, the most respected publication in the nation recognizing and honoring the nation’s finest teachers.

For all Millennium Stage performances, a limited number of advance reservations are available on a first come, first served basis. Advance reservations do not guarantee a seat, and patrons are encouraged to arrive early.
Online advance reservations for a given performance date will open on a rolling basis, opening every Wednesday two weeks out from the date.
For live Millennium Stage performances free tickets will also be available at the Hall of States Box Office on the day of the performance, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Seating is first come, first served. Standing room is available behind the seated area as space allows.
