Sara Garcia

Sara Garcia is a Mexican American dancer, instructor, and choreographer with over 20 years of experience. She is currently the Dance Education Program Director for Corazón Folklórico Dance Company in Washington, D.C.

During her tenure with Corazón, she has performed at historical locations including the Kennedy Center, National Portrait Gallery, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Most notably, Ms. Garcia has performed alongside renowned musicians including Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and Los Tigres del Norte.

Ms. Garcia began her dance career in Santa Clarita, CA, and has since trained with various instructors including: Santa Clarita Ballet Folklorico (Santa Clarita, CA, 2004–2013), Luna Tapatía Ballet Folklórico (Santa Clarita, CA, 2013–2016), Ballet Folklórico Ollin (Los Angeles, CA, 2016), Ballet Folklórico La Joya de México (2016–2019), Ballet Folklórico del Gobierno del Estado de Michoacán (Morelia, MX, 2023), Escuela Nacional de Danza Folklórica (Washington, DC, 2023), and Ballet de Mexico de Amalia Viviana Basanta Hernandez (Washington, DC, 2023–2024). During her college career, Sara served as the artistic director for UC San Diego’s dance company, Ballet Folklórico La Joya de México, from 2017-2019.
