Gianandrea Noseda conducts the world premiere of Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Carlos Simon’s Double Concerto Suite. NSO Associate Concertmaster Ying Fu and NSO Assistant Principal Cello Raymond Tsai take center stage in this new work that expands the dialogue between violin, cello, and orchestra.

Warmth and complexity unfold in Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, blending bravado with introspection in one of the composer’s most expressive symphonies.


Please note: Hilary Hahn and Seth Parker Woods will be withdrawing from their concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra on March 12, 13 & 14. The world premiere performances of Carlos Simon’s Double Concerto Suite for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra will now be given by NSO Associate Concertmaster Ying Fu and NSO Assistant Principal Cello Raymond Tsai.

Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite follows—a radiant work of optimism crowned by its iconic “Shaker” melody. Conductor James Gaffigan closes the evening with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, charting a youthful “Wayfarer’s” journey through darkness to a triumphant, heroic climax.
