The National Symphony Orchestra presents a FREE performance at Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium!
Join Music Director Gianandrea Noseda and the NSO for a thrilling tribute to George Walker, a Washington, D.C. native and the first Black composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. The program features Walker’s First and Fourth Sinfonias, as well as his Violin Sonata No. 1—performed by his son Gregory Walker with accompaniment by pianist Natalia Kazaryan. Noseda closes the evening with Beethoven’s elegant, witty Fourth Symphony.
Join us after the performance as Anthony Randolph moderates a panel discussion with Mickey Thomas Terry, Gregory Walker, Gianandrea Noseda, and new Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Carlos Simon.
This concert takes place at Howard University Cramton Auditorium, 2455 6th Street NW, Washington, DC 20059
